This November 23rd, my parents celebrated 34 wonderful years of marriage, and I can’t help but reflect on all they’ve accomplished together. Married in 1990, they began their journey as partners in life, and over the last 27 years, they’ve also become partners in business, building a legacy that’s shaped not only their lives, but the lives of everyone around them.
Together they’ve poured their energy, love, and dedication into the Best Western Vista Inn and The View Cafe & Gifts. These aren’t just businesses—they are the heartbeat of our community. From welcoming travelers with warmth and kindness to creating a space where locals can connect, my parents have shown that success comes from treating people like family. Their work ethic and shared vision are truly inspiring, and the businesses they’ve built stand as a testament to their unwavering commitment.
But their greatest success is the family they’ve raised. As their daughter, I’ve always known I could count on their love and support, whether it was cheering me on during my volleyball games, encouraging me through my undergraduate and master’s degrees, or celebrating my accomplishments as an elementary school teacher and high school volleyball coach. They’ve always believed in me and helped me become the person I am today.
And now, I get to see that same support extended to my brother, Dylan. After some time away, he made the decision to come back to Buena Vista, and he’s now working alongside my parents in the family business. Watching him step into this role has been such a joy, and it’s another reminder of the strong foundation my parents have built for our family.
Through the years, they’ve faced challenges and celebrated victories, but one thing has remained constant: their commitment to each other. Their love is evident in every aspect of their lives, from the way they communicate to the way they work side by side. They’ve shown me what it means to build a life together, not just in the good times but through the hard work and dedication that it takes to keep a marriage and partnership strong.
Mom and Dad, thank you for being the example of love, loyalty, and perseverance. Thank you for showing us what it means to truly commit to something bigger than yourselves. You’ve touched so many lives through your work and your love, and I’m so proud to be your daughter.
Happy 34th Anniversary! Here’s to many more years of love, laughter, and continued success. You inspire us every day, and I love you both more than words can say.
