There’s something truly magical about the Fourth of July in a small town like Buena Vista. Over the years, it’s become one of my favorite holidays—not just for what it represents, but for the memories it brings back and the new ones it creates year after year.

I remember early mornings lacing up my running shoes for the Freedom 5K, joining Dylan and friends as we ran our hearts out through town, fueled by laughs and friendship. There were afternoons filled with the smell of burgers on the grill, laughter around the backyard picnic table, and the joy of being surrounded by family. And of course, there was the simple tradition of climbing onto the roof at home to watch the fireworks burst over the mountains—our little rooftop party under a canopy of stars.

As we gear up for another Independence Day in BV, we’re embracing everything that makes it special: community, celebration, and a touch of local charm.

Celebrate with Style: Fourth of July Finds at The View Café & Gifts
Whether you’re hosting a backyard BBQ, heading to the parade, or just looking to add a festive touch to your day, we’ve put together a special Fourth of July Collection at The View Café & Gifts to help you celebrate in red, white, and blue style.
Our favorite star-spangled serveware picks:
Tag Star Appetizer Plates (Set of 4) – These ceramic plates are perfect for serving sliders, deviled eggs, or pie slices.

Tag Star Bowls – Fill them with potato salad, fresh berries, or popcorn for a festive snacking station.

MudPie Americana Tray & Spatula Set – Serve your main dish in style with this charming set—ideal for grilled meats, cobblers, or brownies!

Tag Stripe Napkin Set of 4 – These classic red and blue napkins add the perfect pop of patriotism to your tablescape.

Tag Stripe Runner – Dress up your picnic or patio table with this timeless Americana stripe.

What to Serve: Grilled BBQ Chicken Sliders
One of our favorite recipes from Gibbs Smith's American Dish cookbook is BBQ Chicken Sliders with Pickled Onions and Coleslaw—a flavorful and festive finger food that’s perfect for entertaining!
Serve the sliders on the MudPie Americana Tray, place extra pickled onions in a Tag Star Bowl, and let your guests help themselves using the matching spatula. Pair with sweet tea, watermelon, and good conversation.
Tip: Prep the sliders in advance and keep them warm in a low oven while your guests arrive!
