There’s something about The Masters that just makes you want to host a party ~ or at least snack like you're at one. The green jackets, the fresh cut fairways, the azaleas… it’s springtime at its finest, and with the Masters starting next week, we’re bringing a little bit of Augusta right here to Buena Vista.
We just unpacked some seriously fun golf-inspired finds that’ll make your watch party (or your spring shopping) a total hole-in-one.
But before we get into the fun stuff I have a little confession to make ~ I actually took golf in college because I needed "one more credit to graduate", and I figured it would be easy enough to pick up and a hobby I should probably learn since my parents lived in a golf community.
Spoiler alert—it wasn’t as easy as it looked.
I did learn, and while I never turned into a pro (not even close), I did check the box and got that credit! Then life happened—kids, work, growing a business—and golf got shelved. But now that I’m officially in my "empty nester" era, I’m thinking this might be the time to pick it back up. Who knows… maybe my son, who was already out on the course here in Colorado on opening day, might even spend the afternoon and join me for a round!
From the Pantry: Classic Pimento Cheese Spread
If you’re planning a Masters party—or just looking for something easy and crowd-pleasing—this one’s a no-brainer. No Master's party is complete without some Pimento Cheese! The Mudpie Pimento Cheese Bowl comes with the recipe printed right on the inside. Yes, it’s adorable. Yes, it makes prep a breeze BUT, I have to be honest - I started the recipe as stated on the bowl, but it is not a Pimento Cheese Recipe that I love. The recipe on the jar calls for only 2 Tbsp mayonnaise. This in my opinion does not give you the creamy pimento cheese dip that we all know and love. I increased the mayonnaise to 1/2 cup and added cream cheese.
Here is your Pro Tip for the Week: I am not a Pimento Cheese expert, so you may like it less creamy so try it both ways and see what works best for you. I made Pimento Cheese Sandwiches using the recipe shown below and it was a hit with everyone today!
Here’s what you’ll need:
-
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
-
½ cup mayonnaise
-
6 oz cream cheese softened
-
1 (4 oz) jar diced pimentos, drained
-
1/4 teaspoon of onion powder
-
1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
-
salt and pepper to taste
Mix it all together, chill, and serve on soft white sandwich bread (cut into triangles if you’re feeling fancy) or with crackers and veggies.
Don’t forget to pair it with the Signature Cocktail of the Masters, The Azalea, for the full experience.
Here is what you'll need for this recipe:
